Matt McIrvin's Freaky Alternate Reality

...Other things that occurred to me:
- We finally rode the Walt Disney World Railroad, for what it's worth. It's not too different from other amusement-park trains in terms of the riding experience, but Main Street station is nice. Since it has three stations around the periphery of the Magic Kingdom, it actually has some limited use as a transit system (unlike the PeopleMover, which is just a fun, shady way to see some sights), though to most destinations it's not particularly faster than walking through the middle of the park. Part of the route is through the woods on the north side of the park, and surprisingly isolated from anything visibly Disney.
- We also did some riding on WDW's system of water taxis, the FriendShips (from Hollywood Studios to an OK buffet at the Swan hotel, and across the Epcot lagoon). They're not bad, though I think I'd rate the resort water-taxi system at Universal more highly (smaller boats running more frequently).
- Still have not ridden the monorail. Other iconic things I still haven't done after two visits: attend the Magic Kingdom fireworks show (soon to be revamped, I've heard), see the Electrical Water Pageant, see the Carousel of Progress, visit the Hall of Presidents (currently closed for... uh... renovations); ride Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Frozen Ever After, It's A Small World, Peter Pan's Flight, Spaceship Earth or the Tower of Terror. Jorie's aversion to certain types of animatronics makes it impossible to get her on Seven Dwarfs Mine Train or Frozen Ever After. She likes It's A Small World, but some other adult always spares me the experience. I myself am sufficiently averse to drop-tower rides that Tower of Terror may be a hard sell, but people keep telling me it's awesome.
- The Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular at Hollywood Studios is a fun, cornball show that is not about Star Wars.
