I suppose took a long time for cartoony mega-destruction in to become a sentai/anime cliche. (In high school I built half an RPG system called "NeoTokyo" where experience was awarded based on total city blocks destroyed)

Freakazoid parodied the Raymond Burr adaptation in one episode, inserting a lot of awkward shots of a man saying "YES. YES, I SEE" in between scenes.
