that's odd

Revising a LiveJournal article over the Web interface seems to truncate the "current music" field pretty severely.

Well, whether you use the web interface or not, LiveJournal isn't the greatest content management system.

I'm watching the development of TypePad with fascination: this is the second-generation hosted consumer blog service by the makers of Movable Type. Looks like it's going to be really clean and well-thought-out, with excellent attention to standards and tasteful design, but most people have only seen screenshots so far.

I'm looking forward to that as well-- hopefully Inflammable Lad will be game to upgrade from MT.

Relative to MT, I'm not sure TypePad is really an upgrade-- I thought of it as more a consumer turnkey version of MT for people who don't want to roll their own hosting. I guess it does have a bunch of interesting new features like the built-in photoblog and such.

I'm considering starting a little volunteer project to produce better-coded, more standards-compliant templates for LiveJournal. (Because 14-year-old girls need web standards too.) But I'd have to become a paying customer first, I think...

I think you could be right about TypePad.

On the other hand, it's new and shiny, so I'm pretty sure it's what I want.
