When I visited Salzburg a fellow tourist was quite excited at seeing the cemetery where the Von Trapps hid, and tried to find the exact spot. I asked if it was where they were in the film (which I'd seen only once and didn't recall the details of) or in real life; she had no idea of IRL events.

There is an industry of taking tourists around to see the sights from the alternative reality.
