Standing up
Jorie had been standing up unsupported for three or four seconds at a time for a couple of weeks now, but last night she started doing it for much longer periods, maybe fifteen or twenty seconds. It seems to take a lot out of her but she's thrilled with the achievement afterward. She's started to experiment with holding and doing things while standing up, such as clapping her hands and banging toys together.
At long last, she's found an appetite for a few solid foods besides bits of cereal. She's getting some lower molars in now to match the upper ones, so she's really interested in gnawing on crunchy things, like pretzel sticks. She also loves baby yogurt, which is nice because the stuff contains iron-fortified rice cereal--though the mess is incredible, like detonating a small yogurt bomb in the vicinity. It's still impossible to get her to eat most fruits and vegetables, though we keep trying; but besides the fruit-flavored yogurt, there are some breakfast-bar type things with raspberry preserves in them that she likes.
