Speaking of Quatermass...

This Nigel Kneale interview is interesting. For a guy who clearly had the knack for writing intelligent science fiction, Kneale seems less than intimately familiar with the genre—he insists that he really isn't an SF writer, apparently because his major exposure to SF is via crap movies and TV shows. He also hated Doctor Who and refused to write for it, because he felt it had inappropriately scary and violent content for what was ostensibly a kids' show (a frequent complaint).
