doctorwho: Quatermass creator Nigel Kneale has died at the age of 84.
(In memoriam, here's a link to my 2004 summation of a Quatermass viewing binge. In that post, I express some puzzlement over claims that John Carpenter's goofy horror movie Prince of Darkness was inspired by Quatermass and the Pit; I've since learned that the influence was via Neale's later TV play The Stone Tape, which sounds like a much closer fit.)
