The Comics Curmudgeon notes the death of "B.C." cartoonist Johnny Hart, and reports the disturbing fact that the syndicate and Hart's family intend the strip to continue.
It's sometimes hard to believe, but decades ago, "B.C." was a wry, moderately clever gag strip. Even recently, sometimes you'd see a dim flicker of that spirit now and then. But even good newspaper comics are usually ruined by posthumous continuation. What "B.C." would become under new authorship presumably inclined to carry on with Hart's late preoccupations is not pleasant to imagine. It should rest in peace.
