Rational discourse!

So, this Thomas Sowell NRO post of random cranky-uncle thoughts in the Larry King/Mike Barnicle mold is getting some attention because of Sowell's daydream toward the end about a military coup to sweep away America's mounting "degeneracy". But I'd like to pick on something else he said:

“Global warming” seems to be joining “diversity,” “gun control,” “open space,” and a growing list of other subjects where rational discussion has become impossible — and where you are considered a bad person even for wanting to discuss it rationally.

Sounds very reasonable indeed, a desperate call for light instead of heat, as it were. It's pretty rich, though.
