Credit where credit is due: I've been thinking about these things in part because of this overclockers.com editorial (http://overclockers.com/tips00793/). It contains some wisdom, even though it's couched in snotty "bend over and squeal like a piggy, Mac losers" terms, and the author completely dismisses aesthetics, doesn't seem very knowledgeable about the software and believes the canard that Macs don't get viruses because nobody uses them. He's certainly right that the hardware's been converging for a long time, and he's right that this is mostly good.
