Studied badness

Teresa Nielsen Hayden analyzes why the Bulwer-Lytton Contest winners aren't as funny as they ought to be. They generally don't have the sense of style of a good parody; they're basically set-up/punchline jokes, which are not nearly as funny.

Then she points to a much badder alternative. The winners from 2001 she cites are priceless.
