On a related topic, Slashdot just ran the story Mac users 'too smug' Over Security?, which is of course filled with smug comments about Mac security.
What I'm really hoping for is that the battle against spyware on the PC will be won before spyware makers decide to set their sights on the Mac, because quite frankly OS X is wide open for the usual kind of bundled spyware the PC suffers from. OS X even offers all kinds of APIs and other functionality to make it extra easy to implement these things. And the Mac community is woefully unprepared for dealing with actual malware. Even finding an application firewall is near impossible - I only recently found out about Little Snitch, and that's commercial.
