The lot of a store-brand mascot is a sad one

People with Spatch's brand of object empathy may well shed a tear for the sad plight of Chester Chipmate, store-brand cereal mascot (from John Scalzi's list of his favorite posts of 2007).

Object empathy has RUINED MY LIFE. Well, not really, but I'm still saddened by things like mom's old 1960s Goody hair pick -- which was metal -- being left behind at an airport a couple days after 9/11, because of increased security.

I have on occasion gotten sad at cute critters looking sad, but don't care much for mascots. I sympathize with Spatch, though.

I'm so searching out Chester, though. Our Dillon's is really a Kroger's, so we must have that cereal in our stores.
