The release notes vaguely mention "improved backlight". I discovered last night that if you turn on the backlight by holding down the Menu button, it no longer cuts out while you're trying to navigate menus. I haven't characterized the new behavior precisely, but it's much better.

Also, the battery indicator is now a continuous bar that works in pixel increments, and it's no longer gray on slightly lighter gray.
