Brother-in-law Brian? My brother? 'Cause if so, that reminds me of a story...If not, I have no memory. So, anyway, this story takes place in McLean, VA off the sunporch at the carriage house where Bri and I lived for awhile. Anyway, one morning, Bri, Christine, and I totally witnessed this awesomely wicked battle between this wasp stuck on the spider's web and the spider. The spider was trying to wrap the wasp as the wasp struggled wildly.
What was super cool was that if you shoved your face against the glass, and really, why wouldn't you, you could see the wasp's stinger come out and retract over and over again as it madly tried to sting the spider. The spider had the wasp's upper region almost entirely wrapped in web and then BLAMMO! the wasp connected with its stinger and the spider fled. Awesome. I've seen some good battles in my day, many of them involving my cat, but this one took the cake and slammed it rudely into the face of all other battles.
The only other brother-in-law Matt has is Paul, who might also appreciate the bee picture, but would probably be more low-key in his admiration.
Dude, that's a great story. I would have bet on the spider -- and apparently been wrong. I remember one time Matt and I went to the aquarium and watched these tiny crabs duking it out. Man, I could have watched that for hours.
