While many politician-types were there, a carefuly reading of the article reveals the fact that at least some of them had been tricked into being there and later were not fans of the moonie tactics.

That's pretty much my reading too: that's part of the reason why this kind of thing needs to be publicized as much as possible. The Unification Church has been grasping for American political influence, with more success than is at all reasonable given their general craziness, hatefulness and marginality, for about twenty years now. Since I grew up around Washington I personally have distinct memories of the 1970s influence-peddling scandal and the Washington Times launch. Yet unsuspecting members of Congress still get suckered into participating in the freakshow, and you still see the occasional pundit think-piece about how they're not so bad, particularly from cultural conservatives.

Boy are you nieve. Everyone of those congressmen know who Moon is.They would have to be the dumbest "congressional members" in the history of the united states if that is the case. They have all taken his money... They owe him...just like Bush owes him... How the hell do you think they got into the Senate building in the first place. .. By the way ...the senate commision who said the building could be used....will not identify the person who requested it.
