I have vivid memories of a cartoon with signs pointing "this-a-way", "that-a-way", and "a-weem-a-way", which I think come from a goofy Paranoia sourcebook.

I put a mutant version of the "in the jungle" tune in 8.xm. It also includes a snippet of a Hungarian musical my roommate was constantly listening to at the time. True story. I'll shut up now.

I wonder whether Ken Jennings is a wikipedia junkie? He has to get his general knowledge somewhere, and encyclopedias seem like the second most likely choice after Bargain With Satan.

Is it Jim? I don't know...

There's a v. interesting BBC documentary called "The Lion's Trail" which follows the genesis of the song in an effort to see where the royalties went astray. Worth seeing if you get the chance.

oh, neat! I hadn't heard of that. It would have been useful for a paper I wrote in college on copyright issues in folk music, using this case (as well as some of Cecil Sharp's modified-collected songs and something else I don't remember) as examples.

Correction: "A Lion's Trail".

And yes, it's sort of a study of cultural differences and assumptions and whatnot.

'uyimbube' is also featured in the play "A Raisin In The Sun". It's a great scene.

I saw the movie years ago and really liked it, though I don't remember that scene, if it was in there.
