Thanks to The Claw for her appreciation of my appreciation of her posts about the miseries of Science, which some benighted souls apparently do not appreciate without heavy annotation.

It's only when your jokes require heavy annotation that you may have a problem. Actually, I later found out that precisely one person in the entire world thought that this particular extended bit of willfully obscure a.r.k surrealism was funny. That person was Dennis Ritchie, the co-creator of the C programming language. So now I know who my audience is.
