Damn these clouds
Dec. 12th, 2004 05:28 pmOh, geez, the meteor shower's good enough that it's making people call the cops in DC.
Well, there's a chance things will clear up late tomorrow.
...By the way, the article's mention of "no reports of anything on the ground being struck" is a little silly, given that even the most spectacular shower meteors are tiny objects that vaporize tens of miles from the ground.
(On the other hand, as I said before, the Geminids are a little unusual, debris ejected by an unknown process from what seems to be a stony sun-grazing asteroid, which is probably why they are so unusually bright; if a meteor shower were ever to produce a ground-striking meteorite, I'd bet on it being the Geminids.)
