I've been complaining about the degeneration of political rhetoric on other people's comment boards, so in the interest of lighting candles as opposed to cursing darkness, I might as well point to things that buck the trend.

Matthew Yglesias has a brilliant five-paragraph summary of his current foreign policy thinking, which is pretty close to my own at the present moment. Next week I'll probably think something different and be kicking myself for thinking this, but that's just me. Ignore the comments if you value your sanity.

Anil Dash wrote the kindest and most level-headed Sept. 11 retrospective I've yet seen. You'll notice that he fails to do any of what Andy Northrup calls "throwing poo". Let this be a model to us all. See also the gentle rebuke to James Lileks buried in a lengthy TITLE pop-up in the sidebar.
