On Thursday, the Cassini spacecraft makes its third close pass by Enceladus, this one at only 172 km altitude, Cassini's closest planned flyby of any moon for its entire primary mission. The previous flybys produced weird and spectacular pictures, and this one should be good.

Emily Lakdawalla also put together a retrospective of cool-looking moon/ring pictures from Cassini's time near Saturn's equatorial plane in the spring. I've linked to most of these already, but it's nice to see them together. Some of them look like science-fiction cover art.
