Am I completely delusional, or did Google Local just quietly bump up the maximum zoom scale on "satellite" images (but not map images) by a couple of notches and improve their imagery to parity with Google Earth?

It must have happened within the past week or so, but I haven't heard anything about it.

As a result of this update you are now able to make out the world's largest rubber stamp (as discussed at Roadside America).
