He's pretty when he's not being evil:

Evil is a chronic condition for cats, not an episodic one.

Sam says of the picture: "He actually looks pensive. It's freaking me out."

...and in the spirit of camera geekery, I'm still boggling at the fact that I took this picture with a half-second exposure on a handheld camera in not very bright lamplight. That's what image stabilization (and a cat in a calm mood) gets you. Granted, this is the least blurry shot of several.

Holy cow, that's amazing. And, nice color correction, too.
I really like Nestor as an animal name. I had a mouse called that recently.

Thanks. I did the color correction after the fact; the camera was set on auto white balance, and there was a significant yellow cast (the light bulb was actually a compact fluorescent with a bluer equivalent color temperature than most incandescents, but the lampshade and so forth tended to make the light yellower).

I could probably have saved that step by fiddling with the white balance setting beforehand, but usually I don't bother. For one thing, experience has taught me that I tend to forget I've reset it and end up with far more bizarre color casts on photos I take later.

Making me sneeze just looking at him.

Pretty cat, indeed. But it isn't that he's not being evil - he's just in repose. You can tell that he's thinking about being evil, because he's got that little smirk.

But cats have that little smirk ALL the t... oh.
