While Sam was going back and forth with her substitute OB over whether induction should begin on August 9th or later, my co-worker Jill predicted that Sam would go into labor naturally on the 8th for maximum irony. When I showed up yesterday, Jill said "nah, he'll be out of here by noon", but I wasn't, and she seemed unwilling to cut her prediction closer to the bone.

Sam just woke me up and said she is having regular contractions.

We can argue about technicalities, but I think Jill wins this one.

Oooh, I don't know about that. In some cases, the best place for him to be would be DOING SOMETHING ELSE. :-)

That's pretty much how it is right now. Still early hours, lots of quiet time needed, and Sam's mom is here to lend a hand. And Sam's already far exceeded me in public biological detail.

Did I mention that vinyl siding people were hammering on our house all morning?

Wow, I think you might have just won the blog nerd contest!

Don't think I've posted any "good luck" or "dude, that's awesome" or whatever messages on your upcoming baby posts, so let me just say: Good luck.

Best wishes
