A while back I read about some study saying that pessimists generally had a more accurate view of the world and of themselves than optimists. It was pretty remarkable, if true; apparently they managed to prove objectively that everything is, on the whole, bad and is only going to get worse.

Now here's another one of those claims that positive thinking is good for you. In combination with the other result it becomes clear that perceiving the truth is essentially dangerous, since an accurate assessment of reality can only result in negative thinking.

It can only be concluded that we must watch as much TV as possible.

The idea that things are getting worse implies a trend that things used to be better.

An old college professor told me that there are no "goold old days", those days are just "old".

I came to similar conclusions a while ago, but since it's kind of depressing I try not to think about it too much. Take that, meme of doom!

The glass is neither half-full nor half-empty. What it is is too much glass.

So basically, ignorance is bliss. And yet it helps prevent alzheimers.
