Jorie just got both a high chair and this device, which seems to be her new favorite toy. She loves playing at standing up and stepping and hopping around, with considerable assistance.
like my niece, walking before she crawls? My niece was carried in a tight V-shape in the womb, so all she ever wanted to do in her first few months was stand up to stretch her legs out. Between that and her extremely long fingers, she was both walking and feeding herself at around 9 months (and, while she concentrated on those, other things like language waited to develop late).
As you will soon find, to your shock and dismay, climbing generally comes well before walking. What's worse, climbing up comes well before climbing down, but just about at the same time as crashing down.
Stock up on bandaids now, and also practice saying (to her) "Shhh, shhh, it's OKAY" and (to yourself) "Kids bounce. Kids bounce."
...I also walked before I crawled, but it was relatively late, long after I was talking a little. Before that my preferred method of locomotion was rolling like a log.
Will she be
