Apparently his contribution to the Global War on Terror was to permit us rights to use his airspace during the Afghanistan campaign, where we bombed the snot out of the Taliban, an important ally in the War on Drugs.

Yeah, it was initially a bland wire-servicey article, then they changed it to a much better-written one. I appreciate the improvement, but news sites probably should be a little more permalinky.
