Things that are Old Timey.
I hadn't thought much before about the class implications of this designation--things pertaining to the upper class circa 1900 are not, according to this page, Old Timey though they may well be fin de siècle.
As you can guess from the title of my LJ (though it's also a play on the name of my static Web site) and from this story, the oddity of the Old Timey kitsch aesthetic has always haunted me. Probably because I was a kid in the 1970s, when for some reason there was a mania for Old Timeyness in corporate advertising.
