Jorie takes possession of a fine hand-me-down from her cousin Greta, a sort of 360-degree busy box styled as some sort of DJ booth:

The silver disco ball plays a three-second pastiche of "Funkytown", which, really, all disco balls should. It's amusing that the represented music player of choice seems to be a vinyl turntable; whether this is for playing or scratching, I am not sure.

I keep remembering your advice about inexplicable crankiness preceding growth spurts or developmental spurts. The week before last, we had one of those--she was nearly unbearable for a few days straight, and it couldn't even obviously be chalked up to teething pain (though, since tooth #5 seems to be breaking the surface now, maybe there was some of that as well).

But after a few days of that, she calmed down and suddenly had several new motor skills. She's much more likely now to get down on the floor into a quasi-crawling position and stretch and roll over to get to objects just beyond her reach; she's also doing more complicated things to try to push herself up into a sitting position, though she still needs help with it.

"Silver disco ball"? Looks to me like a truncated icosahedron, though it's hard to tell. It is now up to you to make sure her first word is "icosahedron".

It's actually not; if you look at the picture closely you can see that the top and bottom halves don't match up correctly, and there are pentagons bordering one another. I think the sides aren't actually all regular polygons.

It's good to know that Fisher-Price is dedicated to preparing our infants for the demanding environments that they will encounter in the futuristic world of 1976.

And I for one welcome out infant overlords!
