Jorie news
Sep. 19th, 2007 11:01 pmJorie's starting to try standing up unsupported; she can keep her balance for a few seconds before she loses nerve and sits down. She tries this several times a day.
Her use of language gets more and more complex all the time; she still uses single words most of the time, but occasionally uses two-word utterances, modifying nouns with colors, for instance. A few days ago she decided to request a bath by saying "A bath!" over and over instead of the usual, simple "bath". Baby's first indefinite article! She also likes to say "I see you", though she uses it as if it were a single word, to request the game where I peep at her through the hole in one of her Fisher-Price stacking rings.
I'm teaching her to count to ten, and she's a little unclear on some of the details but seems particularly fond of the numbers 5, 6, 8 and 10. She's working on "me" and "you" but I'm not sure she's quite got the nuances yet. She does seem to have discovered something of the utility of "no" in the past few days.
She's figured out by listening to Sam that my name is Matt and now insists on addressing me as Matt about half of the time.
She recognizes several songs; since we inherited Sam's old family piano, I've learned how to plonk out a few simple tunes with one finger, and "Old MacDonald" gets Jorie saying "e-i-e-i-o".
