This was discussed in the comments to the Hell Rotaries post: the Alewife interchange. They photographed it at an off-peak time, so you can't really see the full glory of it.

Note that aside from the three through routes meeting there in a six-legged asterisk, there's actually another leg coming into the center from the Alewife T station.

So, how many upper-level topology classes do you need to drive in that city?

There's another three-way interchange of this type with lights in the middle near my home, where Route 125 meets its connector to 495 through the Ward Hill area. But it lacks the extra spur from the T station, and also isn't being used to carry several times as much traffic as it can reasonably accommodate, so it works all right.

In the old thread, it was mentioned that the Alewife one actually replaced a rotary, which handled the throughput better but was regarded as too dangerous.

Haverhill, way up near the NH border.

We were in that rotary-monster during the first couple of hours of the snowstorm the other day. Amusingly, it was actually easier to deal with than usual, since everyone was going slowly (although it took like half an hour to clear it all).
