So, I mentioned earlier that I amused John Scalzi by finding an egregious scientific error in the first paragraph of The Ghost Brigades. Apparently if I had instead mocked the first sentence of the book, I could have gotten killed by aliens and butchered for meat in the subsequent book. (And, yes, it's a little disconcerting the way that subplot just evaporates shortly after Mr. Loong's demise.)

Clearly, you should lobby for some kind of disembowelment in his next book.

In my limited experience, I find that having a working relationship with an author greatly increases his or her desire to have you die in an unusually gruesome manner.
