The most surprising thing about Mario Kart Wii

is that the hunk of plastic that comes with it is actually useful. You don't have to use the Wii Wheel with the standard control scheme, but if you don't, your right thumb will ache from holding down the 2 button. Having the accelerator be a button on the remote is kind of awkward, but I'm not sure what a good alternative would be absent a new controller.
