Sudden skills

A few days ago, Jorie suddenly figured out how to use a mouse. Before that, she could use the touchscreen interface on Sam's Nokia tablet, but the mapping from hand to screen was beyond her. Then it wasn't.
This is a major breakthrough, as she likes playing little Flash games on websites like http://www.sesamestreet.org/ , and now she doesn't have to demand that somebody else do all the mousing for her.
Her drawings using her huge set of washable markers have become much more elaborate, too. She's been asking me to coach her about drawing chickens and dinosaurs; I just remind her what major body parts a chicken or dinosaur has, and she draws her rendition of each bit. Today she came up with her new standard rendering of chicken feet, so I don't have to always draw the feet in on her command.

I am going to carry the phrase "new standard rendering of chicken feet" around in my head for the rest of the day. Bawk.
