to convince himself he'd never reach the RFK if he remembered that the Thruway mile numbers start where the Deegan ends. Even if he reached the end of the Thruway, he'd have to stop there.

With the watch puzzle, the route he's going down is essentially identical to Zeno's paradox of the tortoise and Achilles, and is probably the most interesting way to solve the problem, though not the simplest.

A version of it with hour and minute hands has become a common tech-firm interview question.
