that Disney movie

I've often heard the weird and dark Disney movie Return to Oz described as much closer to the spirit of Baum's books than the 1939 Wizard was. I'd have to say that's true, though in plot it's actually a looser adaptation, basically a free amalgamation of elements from Land and Ozma of Oz, the second and third books. And that business about the psychiatrist in Kansas is just a bizarre addition.
The problem with Return to Oz, though, as I remember it, was that it was overlong and padded in the middle. That talk with the Claymation Nome King goes on forever.
