disclaimer: I hate watching baseball on TV as I am not a sports fan (except maybe women's soccer), and plus, it is as boring as watching golf on TV.
However ... true to form, they have now fallen apart. It is tied. heh heh heh. The sadness, woe, and drunken idiocy if (sorry, inevitably, *when*) they lose.
Good thing it is in New York, or the trains in and around Boston would be filled with drunken upset dumbass fans.
They will be anyway. Fortunately I'm already at home.
If Martinez hadn't succumbed to Tragic Hubris, the city would be filled with drunken happy dumbass fans, so it works out about the same. I remember when the Pats won the Super Bowl.
Yes, I remember that too. The usually quiet, nerds with briefcases and backpacks train station in South Attleboro was overflowing with obnoxious, overly jubilant Patriots fans. I wanted to kill them. Too much testosterone.
MSNBC accidentally posted one of those AP flashes where one of the sentences was supposed to be deleted --

NEW YORK, Oct. 16 Consider the Evil Empire vanquished. The Red Sox got seven strong innings from Pedro Martinez then a horrid eighth but rallied for a 6-5 win in 11 innings and their first trip to the World Series since 1986.Despite a rough outing from starter Roger Clemens and a solid seven innings from Boston starter Pedro Martinez, the Yankees rallied for a dramatic, 6-5, 11-inning Game 7 win and a trip to the World Series.
Martinez didn't succumb to "Tragic Hubris", Matt. Grady asked him if he wanted to stay in, there's not a single pitcher in major league baseball that would have replied 'No' to that question. It was Grady's responsibility as manager of the team to take Pedro out whether he wanted to be relieved or not. And I hope y'all are only referring to the drunken fans as "dumbass" because I happen to know that myself and numerous other fans are truly, and soberly, upset at a loss that should never have happened. And if any Red Sox team has ever deserved to win, this team did. And now I'll shut up...it's not like me to even care that much about a sport, but I really, really love the Red Sox and I love (most of) the guys on this team.
