This covers only the recent confusion about data from the Spirit pancam, not the earlier controversies; but unless you're into serious conspiracy-think, it's reasonable to regard the later data as better rather than trying to delve into what somebody was thinking while adjusting the guns on a video monitor 27 1/2 years ago.
